Expression and Production of Proteins—Service and Research

Proteos is committed to producing quality custom peptides at a level of purity that meets or exceeds customer specifications.

Chemical Synthesis: Proteos scientists have over two decades of experience in peptide synthesis using advanced automated solid-phase instrumentation. Our products include custom peptides with unusual constituents, as well as routine peptides.  For example, we have wide experience in making custom peptides having unique amino acids, blocking groups, purification handles, chromophoric or fluorogenic substituents for detection and assay development, and transition-state inserts, to name a few. Peptides are characterized by analytical HPLC and mass spectrometry.

Custom Peptides: Our peptide synthetic efforts include custom and standard peptides, and we can provide consultation as to design of peptides that are appropriate as antigens or as substrates in assay development.

“High-Load” Conjugates:
Proteos provides conjugation to KLH and other proteins to create efficient antigens for antibody generation.  Most conjugations are accomplished through a sulfhydryl moiety and Proteos assures that the peptides used for conjugation are in the reduced, sulfhydryl form, and monitors coupling by tracking its uptake.  N-terminal sequence analysis is available to determine the specific load if desired.

Antibody Purification:  Proteos provides conjugation of peptides to column matrices for purification of antipeptide antibodies.  We can provide the peptide column or perform the purification of the antibodies.  In conjunction with our strategic partner, Covance, Proteos can manage the entire production of your antipeptide antibodies from design to purified antibody.

For peptides over 30 amino acids in length, please inquire.  Our Protein group has experience in recombinant production of peptides >30 amino acids expressed as fusion proteins in E. coli.  These recombinant products are at a high level of purity relative to those made by chemical synthesis, and can also be made in fairly large quantities.
